The Storm of 2010

Usually when a city names a storm like "The Storm of 2010" it was some giant week-long storm that shut down power lines, closed schools and closed roads. Well last week we had a storm. It just rained for a couple of days in the valley but the mountains surrounding us were covered in snow! I've lived her for over 30 years and I've never seen it like this. The mountains were looking pretty inviting!! I'm normally the epitome of the country song, "My Front Porch Lookin' In" but this week I've been standing at my kitchen window lookin' out! Sadly it is beginning to melt but my little Kodak did a good job of capturing those moments.

Van WOOS!

There is nothing worse than car problems. Ok maybe there is but for us right now there is nothing worse. Of course it's the van and we are so blessed to have the truck that we all fit in! We were coming home from CVS yesterday and as Lars made the Uturn, the van just turned off and wouldn't start. After trying to restart it we called for help and were rescued by our good friend Sandra! It has been determined that it is the fuel pump that needs to be replaced... mmmm, didn't we just have that replaced 6 months ago? YEP! We sure did! I called the mechanic this morning and the part and labor are warrantied. I called the insurance company and they towed the van to the mechanic for FREE!! That's right... FREE!

What could have been a very expensive nightmare it looks like it may work out just fine. (until they find something else wrong with the car... cross your fingers.

Brinley was crying when they were loading the van onto the tow truck but then she proceeded to blow it kisses and wave as they drove away!

Brinley's 1st Haircut

The Mullett has finally left the house! Brinley got her first haircut yesterday. I was getting quite long and hanging in her eyes. I was fine when I did it every morning but by late afternoon after her nap and her yanking on the ponies all day it was pretty disasterous! Eve Keenen in our ward did the haircut. Sage, Eve's 5 yr old, helped with the pictures.

Jack had a little cold this week so I slept with him in his bed. Tonight he asked me to sleep with him and I said, "No, moms don't sleep with kids. How bout I find your panda and and you can sleep with him." Jack said, "No, I want to sleep with someone who talks."

Happy New Year 2010

We started the year by taking the kids up to Lee Canyon to play in the snow. We found snow bibs on Target's website a couple of weeks ago on sale and decided that would be a great investment. We had so much fun! Our good friends the Lopez family came too. Good Times!!Brinley was fine as long as she wasn't too bundled up and we didn't put her down. Lars took her sledding down the hill one time. She was less than thrilled.

We put Brinley and Aubrey in the sled an pushed them around - Brin wasn't too excited about that either.

Jack had fun in the snow but didnt' like me taking him down in the sled.

Happy New Year!

We had threw a New Year's Eve party for the Elder's Quorum in our ward. We had about 35 people here at our house. We had pizza and donuts and then played Pictionary. After most of the party left we headed outside for sparklers. The kids were so excited. Brinley and Jack even liked them.
While we were outside a man came around the corner and approached our group. He was about 25 and well dressed and very nice. He said that he and his friends had been waiting for their taxi for about 3 hours and didn't know when it would be coming. They offered anyone who would take them down to the strip $30.00 a head for 6 of them. No brainer! Lars took the carseats out of the van and hauled them all to the strip. They didn't have the exact change so Lars settled for $170.00 for a 45 minute drive. How great is that? Turns out they were all students from Texas and California just visiting for the holiday. They were very cordial and grateful. That was a great way to end the year!

Let Them Eat Cake... but just a bite

Kayla has become quite the little chef. She loves her Easy Bake Oven. She made this little treat for the family to share on Christmas Eve. We all had a little taste. She and her friend Kelcie made a little cake the other day and shared it with Jack and his friend, Aaron. Those little boys were pretty smitten by girls who share cake.

One, Two Tie My Shoes

Henry has been very busy this winter break learning to tie his shoes. He tied the drawstring on his jammie pants the other day and he was so thrilled. Sometimes he unites them just so he can tie them again.
