Outside

Whenever the back door opens Brinley had a complete fit. She crawls as fast as she can to get to the door before it closes. She does the "breath stroke method" of crawling. She puts her head down and goes as fast as she can then she lifts her head to view her target and put it back down and goes as fast as she can again.

She made it outside but then wanted to be in the pool with the kids. She loved it. They splashed her and she didn't even care. I guess when it's 99 degrees outside it feels good to get wet.

Hide and Seek

Just another pile of pillows?I've never known Jack to be so quiet for hide-n-seek.

Kayla looked in that corner 5 times without moving the pillows. She finally found them with some huge hints from Lars and me. The boys were pretty proud!

Red Springs

We had a saturday off from soccer over Memorial weekend so we decided to take the kids to Redrock to hike. We really just wanted to climb on rocks and be in "nature" so Calico Basin here we come. They've built a boardwalk trail and we did that and then Lars took Kayla and Henry and the water and the car keys way up into the rocks to climb. We all had a great time.

PULLLLL!

The boys were helping me mop and they really wanted to put the table back by themselves. They pulled and pulled and pulled... nothing!

WATER FIGHT!!

Lars, Henry and a very tired sleeping Jack were just getting home from the father's and son's campout when Kayla, sleeping Brinley and I returned from a very hot soccer game. The kids wanted to play outside in the water and Lars was "setting them up" with the water table and sprinkler and the fight began. They had so much fun! Our artificial grass isn't the most absorbent type of grass...

Career Day

It was career day at Kayla's school. She was sick and didn't go but she still wanted to dress up. She was a librarian. She wore Henry's "church" shirt and his cowboy vest (good thing she is so dang skinny). We did her hair in a bun with pencils sticking out of it. She was pretty bummed about not being able to go but dressing up was fun!

Dino Chicken

I just read an article about children's nutrition where the writer said that chicken shouldn't rectangle shaped. I wonder how he would feel about dinosaur shaped chicken. Brinley enjoyed it!

Mother's Day Tea

I look pretty good for a 71 year-old don't I? Henry had a Mother's Day Tea at preschool and his teacher interviewed each child to get their honest responses about their moms. This is how Henry sees me

• My favorite color is blue.


• The best thing I cook is ham, eggs and toast.


• My hair color is just like Ms. Sheree's but a little lighter.


• The funniest thing I do is a silly dance that makes Henry laugh.


• Henry loves me because I'm the best cook and because I love him.


• If Henry could give me gift it would be a statue because I collect them.

He is such a character! I felt like I was in good company because some of the other mom's were "older" than me. Some were much younger like 7, 14 and 21. At least I don't do a "shake her booty dance". We had a great time!

Mother's Day

We sent this video to my mom in Africa. Happy Mother's Day mom!

It turned out pretty good. The ones we didn't send were hysterical. When I learn how to cut and splice them together I'll post them.

My mother's day was wonderful. I slept in until 8:30am and then the kids made me toaster waffles for breakfast. Lars grilled steaks for dinner. It was delicious! They gave me a book A Mother's Book of Secrets - Keys to Making Motherhood Memorable, Meaningful, and Magnificent. It was written by Linda Eyre and Shawni Eyre Pothier. Shawni served her mission in Romania and left just before I got there. I'm looking forward to bedtime tonight so I can read it.

Blocks

What is it about little boys and putting things down their shirts? Henry put every block we own in his shirt. He looks pretty proud doesn't he?

Field Day 2009

Kayla's school did field day just in the nick of time - It was only 85 degrees on field day. Now it is about 95 every day. She had a great time. It was fun for me to go watch her. When I told her I was coming she was like, "Really? But what about them? (Brinley and Jack)" They came too. Gotta love that double stroller!!

She was filling a sponge with water so she could run it back to fill the bucket. Go Kayla!!

Storytime

Henry got an adorable Fairytale book for his 5th birthday. Every night we do our favorite thing journal, read from the Book of Mormon and then have a story. We were almost done with the book when The Little Red Hen had just asked her friends to help her thresh the wheat... We turned the page and suddenly the gift of tongues became a requirement for reading. I consider myself pretty proficient in the Latin languages ie, Romanian, Spanish and French, but this was nothing I've ever seen before. I think it might be middle eastern or something like that. Good thing I know the story and could tell it from the pictures. Thanks for the book Aunt Becky! We really do enjoy it, at least the English part.
